I live in Washington but I'm headed to school in Montreal shortly and I'm trying to find banking solutions that wouldn't bury me in fees. If there would be fees to make a withdrawal would there be a fee to transfer money from a US based TD account to a Canadian based TD account? Any other creative solutions would also be appreciated

Great for you to join us today, Gregory.
We'd be happy to provide you with some insight on some of the features we offer to our Cross Border Customers.
While traveling in Canada, you will be glad to know that if you withdraw funds at any TD Canada Trust ATM, you will not be assessed with any fees! To help you find TD Canada Trust ATMs near your travel destinations, please click here: http://bit.ly/1cZWU5e.
We also would recommend placing a travel notification on your account prior to your travel date; this will help to prevent any blocks to your Debit Card while you are traveling. You can do so by calling our Customer Service Line at 888-751-9000 or visiting a local TD Bank Store. To find a TD Bank near you, we suggest you check out http://bit.ly/TDStores.
By placing a travel notification, this will help us be aware if we see foreign transactions on your account. Also, please be informed that for your protection we will continue to monitor your card activity even when a notification is set. We also recommend carrying more than one method of payment while traveling, just in case you encounter any acceptance issues. For more travel tips while overseas, please visit http://bit.ly/1gDrDYu. Using this service, you'll be able to transfer funds between your TD Bank US and TD Canada Trust personal accounts free of charge. If you wish to, please feel free to speak with a Representative from our TD Cross Border Banking Support Line 24/7 at 877-700-2913, who can answer any questions you have, and help you complete the transfer.
Keep in mind that if you are not a TD Canada Trust account holder, to initiate an international wire transfer from your account, you will need to visit a TD Store during lobby hours for assistance. For hours and locations near you please take a look at: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
To send an international wire all you need is:
· The full name, address, including city, state/province, country and account number of the person/business (for Euro Zone countries – IBAN – International Banking Account Number) you are sending money to
· The full name and address, including city, state/province and country of the financial institution receiving the funds
· The amount and currency of the transfer
Keep in mind that depending on the currency you are sending, some transactions may take longer than others. You may want to contact the other financial institution to determine what information they require to receive the wire. Our friends on the Canadian TD Helps Team are always available to help with wire instructions that you may need too! Take a look here http://bit.ly/1CTJxzp for information you may need to include for your transfer.
If you are sending an international wire, there may be fees applied if you are not a TD Canada Trust account holder. For our fee schedule follow this link: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt. We would also recommend checking with the other financial institution to ensure no other additional information is required as well as to obtain information regarding any additional fees for their services. And please note that we do not process or disburse funds from wire transfers received designated Pay Upon Proper Identification (PUPID) and return them to the sender.
Please let us know if you have any other questions and please enjoy the rest of your day.
