Good afternoon, Amy, and welcome to TD Helps.
This is a great question, and we'll be more than happy to help.
Typically speaking, in the event that a direct deposit is going to be credited to a closed account, the funds will be rejected and sent back to the depositor, in this case, the State of New Jersey.
As you mention that you have a Savings account with us, we'd like to recommend that you connect with us directly, as we may be able to help. In some instances, if the direct deposit was just credited to your closed account, we can force the direct deposit to be credited to another account you may have, depending on when the deposit was received to the original account.
If you'd like, you may connect with a Banking Specialist, 24/7, by calling 1-888-751-9000, and after verification, they'll be happy to review your account and direct deposit with you.
In addition to calling, if you'd prefer, you may also visit a TD Store location, during lobby hours, to speak with a Customer Service Representative. To take a look at Store locations and their hours, please visit http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
In the event that we are unable to assist you with transferring the funds, we ask that you connect with the depositor directly to determine any additional steps you may need to take to ensure this deposit is credited to an active, open account.
We sincerely hope this helps, Amy. Enjoy your weekend!
